Short-Term Running Goals:

Honestly, I just want to make it to the end of October.  I have a great little running group I go with and things are going to get really intense later this summer as we train for the Saint George Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running a marathon has been a lifetime goal for me for such a long time.  Now that I have the opportunity to accompolish it, I am really excited...and a little nervous.  I just can't let Fear replace Faith...I know I can do it!!!

Personal:

I am married to a handsome fella with two beautiful little girls.  We live in Saint George and enjoy the atmosphere here.  I'm not quite sure what else to write...oh, maybe that I got some new running shoes.  I've been told: "They're kind of a little bit pretty, Mom."  Gotta be in style!

It was supposed to be an awesome run day, but my hubby was a little sick, so I didn't get in what I wanted to get.  But I did get out!  I'm thinking it was about 1.5 miles.  I was really impressed with myself because I ran for about 15 minutes straight, no breaks, no panting...okay, a lot of panting, but I did it!  That, my friends, is an awesome accompolishment for me!  It felt good!  It's wonderful to see how much stronger my body gets from giving it a break to rest and rebuild.  Love it!!

Just a little workout today...Yeah, I'm pretty wimpy when it comes to the whole "make your arms strong" thing...It'll come, I'm sure...just not sure when!

A note of bad news:  Ashley told us this morning that her knee has been giving her some troubles and that her doc told her she needs to take it easy.  She may not even be able to do any long runs until August.  I'm a little bummed, because she's my running mate in the Marathon.  Hopefully things will all work out for the best!

Oh yeah, and also...I have no NO energy any more if I don't run in the mornings.  I feel like a sloth coming out of hibernation (if sloths do such things).  The running addiction has begun.

2 miles around the industrial park...and again...

WAHOOOOOO!!!  I pretty  much conquered the hill this morning!  I was quit a bit behind the other girls because I had to stop at the sign and take a break for a minute, but I ran the whole thing from the stopsign to Beckie's.  It  felt really good to conquer that...I wanted to give up so bad and just walk it, but I had really mentally prepared myself for it.

I'd like to get better at mentally controlling my heart rate and breathing.  It's like I get to a point that my heart is out of control.  I know it just needs to keep getting stronger, and it will get there.  I took a little timer with me this morning and was able to run for 10 minutes the first spirt, which was just over a mile.  That felt good.  I have a hard time running for longer than 5-7 minutes increments after the initial longer spurt, but I'm sure that will come, too.  We're talking about running a midningt 5K in a few weeks.  I'd like to be able to run the whole thing...yep, that's the goal!!!

Oh yeah, also, when I come home and go back to bed after running in the mornings, I'm counting that as a nap...It's not real sleep unless you become oblivious to the snoring of your husband!

2 miles around the industrial park...again...

Not feeling quite as good about running today.  Feeling a little discouraged, really, but I can't expect to be the best after two days.  I know running is mostly a mental thing, so I've got to work on psyching myself up a little bit for the run tomorrow morning.  Still, though, I did better than the day before, which is some improvement!

2 miles around the industrial park

Wahoo!!!  Feeling really good today!  I honestly didn't think I'd do as well as I did.  I ran out of breath a couple of times and had to stop here and there, as well as walk about four times, but all in all, the first little bit of the run was really impressive to me.  The final hill kicked my tooshy, though.  I had to walk most of it and was able to only run about a block.  Still, feeling good and fancy free!
